Hello!
This week was pretty good. We have some new investigators now and they're progressing. We found an amazing spanish-speaking family from Mexico named the Cordoba family. They live in a randomly middle-class alley in one of the more well-to-do parts of Paramount. There's the father (perhaps even the husband) and his name is Alajandro. There's the mother (perhaps even the wife) and her name is Beatriz. And there's the 18-yr-old daughter (focus elder lewis! focus!) and her name is Tonya. They're all interested and the parents went to church on Sunday! They don't speak very much English so they had to wear the translator headphones during sacrament but they said that they really enjoyed church. We told them about their option to go to the all-out Spanish ward (we get to work in both wards here) but they were just fine with going to our ward. They want to learn English. Anyhow, they're an amazing family and they want to really investigate the church and gain a testimony before they commit to be baptized.
Not much is happening with Jasmine Lopez (14) or the Tupo family right now. They're awful hard to get a hold of. There's too few people in the world that remember the art of being there for the appointments they commit to. We tried to commit Helen Seabolt to be baptized again but she is pretty stubborn. Shirley Gibbs ought to know that she's the type of investigator we all search for and pray for. She actually wasn't really that stubborn. :)
We're finding lots of new people too. The vast majority of them are spanish speaking. Most of are lessons are in spanish now. Some of our new people include Netza, Rosa, and a man named Oscar who wants to feed us on Wednesday.
Elder Beverley is getting better at talking with people. He's working hard to learn spanish since he's starting to notice that we teach a ton of spanish people. His medical stuff isn't a hassle at all. He has to inject himself with insulin(?) during every meal but he's so used to it that he can do it in just a few seconds in the car.
Elders Kemp and Twiss are getting along better now. They had a pretty rough start this transfer but they're starting to be able to understand each other a little better. I went on exchanges with each of them to find out how their doing. Our apartment is dandy and we still run every morning. It's actually a mission rule for us to run for at least 20 minutes six days a week. When I was on exchanges with one of the zone leaders yesterday we ran about 2 miles. That's all we have time for.
I may be e-mailing you from a different area next week but who knows. Yep it's that time again. Transfer 12 starts up next week. I hit what we call "dead sister" this transfer. That means that had my chromosomes taken a different route and I came out with one less of a unit I'd be going home next week with Sister Choi. Pretty weird.
Hope all goes well with Dad's photage class and hope your week's a little less crazy this time Mom. Also hope that all goes well with Hannah's science project. Have a extravaganzical week and we'll talk again in 7. Hasta el fuego!
Love,
Elder Tyler Lewis
